Turnlark

Privacy & your data

Know what stays on your device, what syncs, and how to take your work with you.

Who operates Turnlark

Turnlark is operated by Turnlark. Contact hello@turnlark.com about your data.

Practice on this device

Guest self-reviews and local practice progress are saved in your browser. Audio recordings, transcripts, recording notes, and evidence cards are stored separately on the device. Audio recordings are not included in account sync.

Browser storage is not a permanent backup. Clearing site data, using another browser profile, or a browser storage limit can remove access to local work.

Account data and sync

Registration stores your name, email address, a protected password representation, and sign-in session records. Account sessions use cookies. When account sync is available, it stores a copy of your training progress, speech drafts, debate flows, prep sheets, self-review ballots, and tournament results on the server.

Email delivery is used for verification and password recovery when configured. Loading Turnlark also sends ordinary web requests to its hosting service. Contact us for questions about service providers or server-side retention.

Export your work

Use the progress JSON export in Settings for drafts, flows, prep sheets, ballots, results, and practice history. Settings also offers separate audio, recording-note, and evidence-card downloads without paid workspace access. A progress backup does not contain audio or evidence cards.

Delete your work

You can delete individual saved items inside their tools. To remove data from a device completely, export anything you need first, sign out, and clear Turnlark’s site data in that browser. This removes browser-held recordings and progress, but does not delete your account or its server copy.

To request deletion of your account and server-stored progress, email hello@turnlark.com from your account email address. Copies on other devices and downloaded backups must be removed separately.

Recording and transcription

Recording requests microphone permission. You can practice and review without granting it. The transcription tool downloads a speech-recognition model when you choose to transcribe and processes recordings on your device.

Live browser transcription is a separate, off-by-default option. If you enable it, your browser may send audio to its speech-recognition provider. Leave it off to record without that service.
